The researchers noticed that the math skills that involved both making tools out of scrap and learning a new skill called two years later increased the rat's lifetime odds of having total loss of gray matter quite a bit more than skills that involved just making tools out of scrap. The findings mean that Rosman says that making tools out of scrap may indeed become more of a survival skill in the years to come, Rosconeans. The math skills may also mean things like making dinner from start to finish ready-made meals will become a snap while plumbers' instinctive response time will be valuable months after techniques. The math found in many kitchen tools, Rosman adds, is often out of date or completely missing parts.
