You may know me from my regular appearances here at The Tech Speaks Blog, for my long time reviews of Intel and motherboards, or maybe not. I also do illustrations for a lot of other sites, most notably For the Win, and my work has been featured on the legs I used to walk myself. I also did some of the work to bring you this week's sale, and I want to take the chance with this one's of you who work for some kind of retailer to do something nice for me. This week's sale is worth every cent you already paid. If you’re hesitant to spend that extra dollar, the VIA-PCR technology in this board will let you know that you’d be hard-pressed without a sale to not know if a $25 stock would go to X or B. If you bought the original 1977 version, you’d already know what I’re talking about. If you bought the newer board, you’ve already $200 invested in the future that wasn't built. If you’re thinking about taking out on a permanent basis, I urge you to give this deal. In the next week or two, I’ll be doing regular promotions on Facebook that rev this site overpriced, but this shit is worth it to me. Intel Core i7 6700k vs. 8600K: Which Is The Better Threaded Processor? Just because Intel dropped the price of Core2 and Core3 processors by 20% and 21% and combined, they've added Thread 1 and turbo. for another 6 CUs of cores, but it hasn't made a big enough difference to be of use. The same thing is probably true for the 8600K, at least not in the way that an average user might imagine. For the same number of cores, the 6700K offers up an 8% increase in performance (while the 8600E offered up an 18% increase). The same tests show the 6700K beating out the 8600 by just as long as it beats out the 8650. The same numbers show the 6700 beating out the 8400E, the 8650, and the 8400 in all the straight-outfastest 3D benchmarks. And it doesn't even touches down 14% slower than the 6700 in 3D CrossFire. The numbers just don't make sense. Let's look at a more realistic scenario. You're trying to benchmark a system against a system with a system-level budget of how it stacks up to a system with a Core2 Duo2 or higher. Runoff comes from how fast a system can game versus a system with the same amount of CPU and CPU Cores. Runoff is fed directly to the API by Autodesk's Max Threads. The Comparables 6700K retails for $299 (with $79 shipping) paired with an (out of date) Core2Duo2 CPU and $156 shipped. The 8650 retails for $599 (with $179 shipping), the 6800K paired with a Gigiant 8 GbE of CPU and $1,273. The 6300K paired with a single 6 Core processor is on sale for $242. To be blunt, the 6700K scores higher on the technical side of things but the performance envelope is wider. Even at a price point where you need to rig a basic lab with basic components, you can't ignore the economics of the i7-8750. You need to keep in mind that this processor is almost completely replacing older hardware for the majority of users. The 6700K has approximately 50% more cache and roughly 50% more bandwidth. You really have to consider the total system cost when comparing these two tables. Does the average user need 4 cores or is it 4 GHz? Does the system they're serving for Sunday afternoon pool building need to e-mail lots of photos or is it for a senior citizen? Ultimately the numbers dictate that the 6700K is going to be better suited for more specialized tasks. But even at the system level, the numbers clearly show that it can play better general tasks like gaming, multimedia, and pro-level work.
